EasyJet flights cancelled from Bristol Airport to France, Spain and Switzerland due to French strikes

Several EasyJet flights that were due to leave Bristol Airport today for France, Spain and Switzerland have been cancelled.

On the Bristol Airport website departures board, seven flights throughout the day to cities including Barcelona, Alicante, Paris, Bilbao and Geneva have been cancelled.

This is thought to be due to national strikes that have started in France and are having an impact on airlines including EasyJet, British Airways, Ryanair and Eurostar.

In a statement released this morning, Bristol Airport said: "Due to French industrial action, some flights to and from UK airports including Bristol Airport may be subject to disruption.

"For specific flight information, passengers are requested to contact their airline directly."

EasyJet has already cancelled 233 flights across its network around the globe due to the French strike action, which started yesterday and si expected to last until Sunday.

EasyJet has said it will be contacting affected customers by email and SMS if their flight is cancelled.

A spokesman said: “Due to a national strike in France affecting air traffic control, airport fire service and public transport, like all airlines easyJet is experiencing disruption to flights operating to and from France and through french airspace.

“Customers on affected flights have been contacted directly via SMS and email and we advise all passengers travelling today to check the status of their flights on our Flight Tracker via the app or on our website.

“Any customers affected by cancellations are eligible for a refund or a free of charge transfer to a new flight.

“Whilst this is outside of our control we would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience experienced and would like to reassure them that we are doing all possible to minimise any disruption caused by the strike action.”

The mass strike action in France's that's taking place in protest against the government's pensions reforms.
