EasyJet flight from Liverpool to Lanzarote makes unscheduled landing at Manchester airport

An easyJet flight from John Lennon Airport bound for Lanzarote has made an unscheduled landing at Manchester airport due to a 'technical issue.'

Flight EZY7157 took off from Liverpool at around 2.40pm today, bound for Arrecife in Lanzarote.

Around 10 minutes later the pilot decided to land at Manchester Airport due to a 'technical issue.'

The captain made a routine landing.  EasyJet are now transferring the passengers to another plane.

An easyJet spokesman said: “EasyJet can confirm that the Captain of flight EZY7157 from Liverpool to Lanzarote took the decision to divert to Manchester due to a technical issue.  The captain performed a routine landing in line with procedures. 

“We are currently making arrangements for the passengers to be transferred on to another aircraft to continue their journey to Lanzarote.

“The safety and welfare of our passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

A spokesman for JLA confirmed that EasyJet flight EZY7157 took off from Liverpool at around 2.40pm today. The spokesman said that the pilot decided to land at Manchester Airport for 'operational reasons.'

A spokesman for Manchester Airport told the ECHO that the flight made an 'unscheduled landing' at around 3.45pm today at Manchester. There were reports that the plane was met by fire engines when it landed, but the spokesman at Manchester said that was 'standard procedure.'

Members of the public claimed to have seen the plane circling above Liverpool this afternoon.
