easyJet flight from Belfast to Faro diverted back to Belfast International Airport

An easyJet flight from Belfast to Faro diverted back to Belfast International Airport this afternoon.

Flight EZY6793 took off at 12.56 pm on Thursday, October 14, but just 40 minutes later it arrived back at the airport due to a technical issue with the plane that needed to be inspected by the airline's engineers.

A message on the easyJet website said: "This can take between 30 minutes to two hours and we will keep you updated as soon as we know more.

"Please remain on-board and our crew will keep you updated.

"We’re working to minimise this delay where possible, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused."

A spokesperson for easyJet added: “We can confirm that the Captain of flight EZY6793 from Belfast to Faro took the decision to return to Belfast shortly after take-off as a precaution, due to a technical issue.

“The captain performed a routine landing in accordance with standard operating procedures and passengers disembarked normally in Belfast, where we arranged for an alternative aircraft to continue the flight to Faro.

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority. We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the delay and thank them for their patience and understanding.”
