easyJet flight from Belfast to Corfu delayed overnight due to adverse weather conditions

An easyJet flight from Belfast to Corfu was delayed overnight earlier this week, causing disruption to travellers.

Flight EZY26787 left Belfast International Airport at 7.40 am on Thursday, October 14, to travel to the Greek island.

However, the plane was unable to land in Corfu as a result of adverse weather conditions and was instead redirected to Bari in Italy, where it landed safely.

Following this, the plane set off again in the direction of Corfu in the hopes that the weather had improved. But as poor conditions endured, the plane returned to Belfast and travelled to Corfu the following day.

A spokesperson for easyJet said: “easyJet can confirm that the flight EZY26787 going from Belfast to Corfu on 14 October has been overnight delayed as a result of adverse weather conditions in Corfu.

"The flight was unable to land in Corfu and diverted to Bari where it landed safely. The captain then took the decision to try a second approach to Corfu.

"Unfortunately, as there were no significant improvement of the weather conditions the flight had to return to base at Belfast where a new crew could be provided to operate the flight on the 15 October.

"Although the situation was out of control we would like to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of the delay.

"The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
