Easyjet Edinburgh to London flight declares mid-air emergency

An Easyjet flight from Edinburgh to London declared an emergency mid-air shortly after taking off this morning.

The flight had only been in the air for a short while before the crew broadcast the emergency alert, known as a Squawk.

It had taken off from Edinburgh Airport at 6.09am and was due to arrive in London Gatwick at about 7.35am.

The emergency was declared as it flew over Biggar, according to online plane monitors.

However, it did not cause the plane to make a u-turn as it continued on to its destination of London.

The aircraft number was G-UZHH and it landed safely in the capital city at about 7.17am.

It is not known why an emergency was declared on-board.

Easyjet have been approached for comment.
