Further flights have been cancelled by easyJet on Wednesday due to staff Covid-19 sickness.

A spokesperson for Belfast International Airport said: "Those passengers will have been notified by the airline directly and accommodated on alternative flights or offered refunds."

A spokesperson for easyJet added that the 'vast majority' of flights will go ahead on Wednesday, and the cancellations impacting Belfast International "were pre-emptively cancelled today as a result of higher than usual levels of employee Covid sickness."

A statement said: "easyJet will operate the vast majority of its 1545 flights today with a small proportion cancelled in advance to give customers the ability to rebook onto alternative flights.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience for affected customers."

easyJet added that all customers affected will be contacted directly as in the event of any cancellation.

Their options include rebooking onto an alternative flight, or receiving a voucher or full refund.

Airports continue to struggle with staffing leading to long queues.

On Monday, Dublin Airport said: "If you are flying from Dublin Airport soon, please be aware that it might be very busy at peak periods, so allow yourself plenty of time.

"At peak times, this can mean up to three and a half hours before your departure time. If parking a car, allow a further 30 minutes."
