easyJet announces extra flights from Bristol Airport as it fills Flybe gap

easyJet is increasing the number of flights it makes from Bristol Airport to five destinations around Britain and Europe, as the airline looks ahead to a world without a coronavirus lockdown flight restriction.

The airline is taking on some of the spare capacity left by the collapse of the Exeter-based Flybe airline, and said it would be trying to ‘boost UK connectivity’ with an increase of more than a quarter of a million possible passenger journeys from August 31.

From the last day of August, easyJet is doubling the number of flights it makes from Bristol to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris - basically by adding an afternoon flight to the morning one - from seven to 14 weekly flights.

The airline is also increasing the number of flights to Amsterdam every week from 12 to 20.

And there are also increases on key routes within the UK - something lost by the collapse of Flybe.

The number of flights every week from Bristol to Edinburgh is going up from 25 scheduled in August to 33 in September, from Bristol to Glasgow is up from 20 to 29 and from Bristol to Belfast is going up from 19 to 26.

A spokesperson for easyJet said it was taking up the gap left by Flybe.

“In a boost to UK connectivity, easyJet has also announced today that it is adding over 257,000 seats annually on routes once served by Flybe,” she said.

“From August, the capacity will be split across 13 UK touching routes including nine domestics. The routes include Bristol to Paris, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast; Manchester to Paris, Belfast and Amsterdam; Belfast to Birmingham; Birmingham to Glasgow and Edinburgh, and Luton to Glasgow,” she added.
