Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has been nominated for FIFA’s Best Coach award after a list of the current best managers in world football were weighed up and decided.
Pochettino, who guided Spurs to a Champions League final and an automatic qualifying spot for next season, has joined the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Didier Deschamps in the list of nominees.
The Argentine is arguably deserving of his place having achieved those heights last season without making a single transfer in two windows.
Meanwhile, after hearing the good news on Twitter, Spurs fans reacted positively despite being drowned out by the repeated shouts for Guardiola and Klopp - cheering on Pochettino to claim the prestigious award.
Spurs reached the Champions League final last season but unfortunately lost out to a stellar Liverpool side, beating domestic treble winners Man City in the quarter-finals and Dutch champions Ajax in the semis to get there.
The general consensus among Spurs supporters seems to be that Pochettino achieved these landmarks whilst working with limited resources, and he should be rewarded for it.
As well as Spurs’ manager being credited with some glory, striker Harry Kane was also nominated for FIFA’s Best Men’s award, alongside such stars as Virgil Van Dijk, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
