Liverpool fans have praised Paul Tierney and VAR after they correctly sent off Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.
The Reds found chances hard to come by in the opening stages at Stamford Bridge with Frank Lampard keen for his side to sit deep and hit the champions on the counter-attack.
However, his game plan went out the window just before the break as Christensen brought down Sadio Mane after an exquisite through ball from Jordan Henderson.
Tierney initially brandished a yellow card for the Danish defender, however, after reviewing the decision on the monitor, that was upgraded to a straight red card.
It was the correct decision in the eyes of former Chelsea man Ashley Cole.
He told Sky Sports: "It's the right decision. For me, it’s great forward play from Mane there.
"He’s holding him off, he knows the space he wants to go into. Christensen could’ve been a bit more goal-side, as soon as Becker gets the ball, can you tuck in a little bit?”
Equally, Liverpool fans were in firm agreement with the decision and praised Tierney for consulting the VAR monitor to reach the right decision.
