A money-saving expert has discovered a simple kettle trick that can reduce your annual energy bill by hundreds of pounds.
What most people don't know is that boiling your kettle is way more expensive than you might think - and adds a fair whack to your energy costs.
The money-saver, known only as scott8bits, explained how it costs as much as £400 every year just to frequently boil your kettle.
But instead of boiling the kettle each time you fancy a cuppa, he suggests filling your kettle up and then keeping the water hot, the Mirror reports.

After you've poured out enough for a cuppa, the rest - roughly five or six cups more - should be poured into a thermos and saved for later.
The thermos will keep the extra water heated ready for the next time you fancy a brew, meaning you don't need to use the kettle again that day.
This means, if it costs 18p each time you boil the kettle, then you'd be spending at least £65 a year on your daily tea intake.
However, you'd need to actually drink the tea in the thermos to make it worthwhile.
The TikTok user said: "The trick means you always have instant hot water - and it even means there's less limescale in your kettle.
"As an extra bonus, it saves the planet too - win, win."
The cost of frequently boiling your kettle depends on the power rating on your appliance and how many hot drinks you have a day.
A standard 3kW kettle costs around 9p if in use for 10 minutes, according to figures from Uswitch - this means if you filled up your kettle for just one cup of tea, you'd use around 1p worth of energy.
Some energy experts actually argue the opposite of what scott8bits has said in his TikTok video - and say filling the kettle up with only what you need is actually the best way to keep costs down.
This is particularly relevant if you find yourself wasting kettle water.
If you only make one cup of tea a day, then you’re unlikely to make a saving by filling up the whole kettle.
Another way to save money when using a kettle is to switch it off at the wall.
