A hack costing just 1p could help Brits get through chilly nights while the heating is off.
As temperatures drop well-below freezing during an arctic blast sweeping across the UK, many of us will be looking to layer up at night.
Some might feel the cold so badly, they're resorting to blasting their heating up or even leaving it on overnight - which can cost almost £80.
However, the could be a much cheaper way of staying warm in bed - with the sleep experts at Silentnight divulging a handy hack.
While running an electric blanket might seem extravagant, it could cost as little as 1p - or an average of £12.48 if turned on for an hour a day, every day of the week for a year.
Sally Bonser from Silentnight said: “It’s no surprise that so many of us are looking for alternative ways to heat our homes.
"However it’s concerning to see some of the methods people are turning to as they could actually cost them more in the long run.
“Turning on the fire or using electric appliances like kettles for making plenty of hot drinks, or hair dryers to heat the bed can be costly in the long run, whereas using an electric blanket costs just 1p to heat your entire bed.

Some parts of the UK have seen temperatures fall as low as -15C while others have been impacted by heavy snowfall.
This has prompted The Met Office to issue yellow weather warnings for areas of in the South East, West Midlands and the North East.
