Easy check everyone with an Apple iPhone should do NOW to save money

Over the last year, more people have been getting rid of subscriptions and streaming services to help them save money.

Last month, analysts at Kantar said the number of streaming subscriptions in the UK fell by two million.

The exact figure dropped from 30.5 million to 28.5 million - a huge decrease, as inflation remains in double-digits at 10.4%.

If you’re an iPhone user, there is an easy way to see what apps or other Apple services you may be shelling out money for.

Go to the settings section on your phone, then click on your Apple ID at the top of the screen.

After this, tap subscriptions - this should then show you what Apple or app products you’re spending money on each month.

If you’re paying monthly for an app or service, you should be able to cancel for free and your payments will stop.

If you’ve paid for a year upfront, and you're part-way through your subscription, your right to a refund depends on the app or service you've purchased.

How far into your subscription you are is also likely to play a part in determining if you're due money back.

Apple advises that "some purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, Apple Books or other Apple services" may be eligible for a refund.

iPhone users should sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com, click on "I'd like to", then choose "Request a refund".

You should always cancel an unwanted subscription anyway, even if you're part-way through, as this will stop the service auto-renewing.

Of course, the above tips apply only to purchases made through your iPhone.

To check every subscription you're signed up to, the best thing to do is go through your most recent three bank statements.

This should show what else you're paying for, including services like Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime or even your local gym.

Netflix subscribers saw their bills rise by up to £24 a year after the streaming service announced another round of price hikes in March 2022.

The basic price plan went up by £1 a month to £6.99, while the premium price plan increased by £2 a month to £15.99.

Disney+ users have seen their bills rise from £5.99 a month to £7.99 for monthly users, and from £59.99 a year to £79.90 for annual payments.
