Who doesn't love pancakes?
And this Shrove Tuesday, better known as Pancake Day, is the perfect excuse to eat them by the dozen.
Shrove Tuesday is the day the precedes Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. It is celebrated in a number of countries by the consumption of pancakes, hence where the Pancake Day nickname came from.
Countries around the world have their own take on this pan-fried delicacy, with the French preferring the super-thin crepe and the Americans opting for thick, fluffy pancakes often drenched in maple syrup.
English pancakes are slightly thicker than crepes but are still thinner and larger than American pancakes, with sugar and lemon being a traditional topping.
If you want a change from the usual British method, Pancake Day is the ideal time to try something different.
Below find the best traditional fluffy American-style pancake recipe to use for your Pancake Day celebrations.
