Eastfield Road crash: Woman taken to hospital after smash involving lorry near Edinburgh Airport

A woman has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a lorry near Edinburgh Airport this afternoon.

The two vehicle smash resulted in part of Eastfield Road, near to Ingliston Park and Ride, being closed off.

Police were alerted to the incident at 11.30am and emergency services rushed to the scene.

The female driver of the Land Rover involved was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with what are thought to be minor injuries.

For a time there was no access to the airport from the Newbridge direction, and diversions were in place via the Gyle roundabout. Those heading off to catch a flight today were even being urged to give themselves extra time.

The road has since been fully reopened.
