Easter: When will bins be collected in London over the bank holiday weekend?

The Easter bank holidays this weekend means public services like bin collections may be affected.

Councils that aren’t collecting over the Easter bank holidays will push their days back by 24 hours to accommodate this. It would be safe to assume that collections will go back to normal by the week after Easter.

The best place to find out what is happening is on your council’s website.

When will bins be collected in London over the bank holiday weekend?

The City of London Council won't be collecting on Good Friday, Easter Sunday or Easter Monday but it will on Easter Saturday because it isn't a holiday.

On Good Friday, normal rubbish collection in Brent will take place; however, on Easter Saturday food and recycling containers will be collected. This will be similar to Easter Monday, where general waste will be collected on the bank holiday, but food and recycling will be the day after.

In Harrow, collections will take place on Easter Saturday rather than on Good Friday. Similarly, there won't be any collections on Easter Monday.

In Havering and Lewisham collections will not be made during the holiday weekend. Collections that were due on Monday will now be due on Tuesday, and each collection day after that will be 24 hours later than usual.

In Greenwich, bins will be collected as usual on Good Friday but will not be collected on Easter Monday but will be emptied the next day.

There will be changes to rubbish and recycling collections in Islington, with collections occurring a day later than usual with the exception of Saturday. Waste collections will continue as normal from Monday April 17.

In Camden there will be no changes to recycling and rubbish collection days over Easter.

In Hackney and Redbridge all collections will take place one day later than normal due to the Passover and Easter celebrations.

In Richmond, there will be no changes to normal collection dates between Friday April 7 and Monday April 10. However, the council will not collect bulky waste.

No bin collections are taking place in Enfield over the bank holiday weekend.

Bins will be collected a day later than usual in Bromley except for Green Garden Waste Collection Service subscribers, whose bin will be collected on the usual day.

In Ealing the next bin collection will be on April 14.
