Easter weekend weather: Edinburgh to bask in 13C before Met Office predicts sudden dip

With Easter weekend soon arriving, Edinburgh is set to see a classic mix of conditions, from warmer sunshine to cold, lashing rain.

According to the Met Office, the capital will see a sunny start to Good Friday (April 2), with more cloud cover moving in as the day progresses.

However, it is expected to stay dry, with little or no wind and highs of ten degrees throughout the day, meaning a walk or Easter egg hunt will still be doable.

Saturday (April 3) will see the best conditions of the weekend, with clear sunny skies all day, and again winds will remain light. Temperatures will also rise a little further, with highs of 13C and lows of 6C to be experienced across the city.

Moving into Easter Sunday itself, the day will unfortunately be much more of a damp and dreary affair, with temperatures falling back to around 7C.

Cloud cover will also increase, with rain expected to arrive at some point in the afternoon and freezing temperatures forecast for overnight.

Easter Monday however will be a slightly brighter affair, with a mix of sunshine and cloud expected. Although, temperatures will remain low, with highs of 4C and lows of -1C.

It comes as lockdown restrictions will ease from April 2, with the 'stay at home' law to change to 'stay local'. This means that people will be able to have more freedom to move around their local area, but will still not be able to leave their local authority (e.g City of Edinburgh) without an essential reason.
