Easter weather: Scotland set to sizzle as temperatures rise after cold weekend

Scotland could be set for a 'taps aff' Easter weekend with temperatures on the rise after a chilly spell.

Much of the country looks set for a dry and warm bank holiday weekend, according to the Met Office.

Scotland faced a sunny but chilly spell of weather over the weekend, but that hopefully looks set to change with temperatures rising to around 19C by Friday with warm air moving north from continental Europe.

Forecaster Simon Partridge said: "After there was a chilly spell this weekend, we are going to see temperatures gradually increase through the week.

"By the weekend we could see in parts of the country temperatures of around 20C, or just above."

The warm weather is primarily forecast for areas in western Scotland, as well as parts of south and north west England - however other areas should also feel the pleasant weather.

The Met Office website for Glasgow during the weekend reads: "A ridge of high pressure will bring dry and settled weather with sunny spells and a southeasterly breeze.

"It will become much warmer than of late."

A similar forecast for Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen also reads: "Becoming warmer in most places but onshore breezes keeping coasts cooler and cloudier at times."
