Easter payment dates for Universal Credit and other benefits in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland folks whose benefits are due on Good Friday and Easter Monday or Tuesday April 6 should still get what they are due by those dates, say Department for Communities.

Good Friday falls on April 2 this year while Easter Monday is on April 5 and both dates are bank holidays.

However, DfC has said anyone due benefits such as Universal Credit, PIP or DLA on those days as well as April 6, will not be paid any later than they would normally receive their payments.

This covers recipients of payments including:

  • Child benefit
  • Tax credit (both child tax credit and working tax credit)
  • Universal Credit
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • State pension
  • Pension credit
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payments
The dates explained (DfC)

If your expected payment date does not fall on a bank holiday, you should get your payment as normal.

While benefits in NI operate on different systems "you will not receive your payment later than the date it would normally be due" they said.
