Easter Monday traffic disruption expected in Belfast as parades set to take place

Traffic disruption is expected in Belfast on Easter Monday due to parades taking place across the city.

Delays can be expected on April 18 and again on Tuesday, April 19.

A spokesperson for Trafficwatch NI said: "Belfast road users are advised to anticipate some traffic disruption over the coming days due to a number of parades and cultural events, in the following areas:

Monday, April 18

  • Donegal Pass area from 7.45am.
  • Ormeau Road (Ballynafeigh area) from 9.30am.
  • Pitt Place, Newtownards Road, Templemore, Albertbridge Road and Ballymacarrett Road from 10.30am then again from 3pm.
  • Clifton Street travelling into Royal Avenue, from 11am returning along the same route from 2.30pm.
  • Crumlin Road, Shankill Road, Woodvale and Clifton Street areas, with a parade travelling into the City Centre through to Sandy Row between 10.30am and 4pm.

Tuesday, April 19

  • Shankill Road, Peters Hill through to Royal Avenue from 10.30am to 11.30am and then from 5pm in the Shankill Road area.
  • Ormeau Road (Ballynafeigh area) from 11am to 1pm and then again from 4.45pm to 5.30pm.
  • Mount Merrion, Bells Bridge and Ladas Drive from 4pm.
  • Albertbridge Road from 10.45am and then again from 4.30pm in the Templemore Avenue, Albertbridge Road.
  • Fax Street through the Oldpark and Ardoyne areas 1pm to 4pm.

"Road users are asked to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time for their journeys and follow the directions of local police."
