Easter drink driving blitz sees Gardai stop four cars in Clondalkin alone and 'drug driver' in Blackrock

Gardai arrested four motorists in Clondalkin yesterday for separate incidents of 'Driving Under the Influence' (DUI).

Officers also nabbed a drink driver in Dublin 10 after catching the vehicle speeding on the Chapelizod bypass.

A third drink driving incident saw Gardai in Dublin city centre arrest a motorist in Temple Bar in the early hours of Good Friday.

Meanwhile a 'drug driver' was arrested in Blackrock earlier today.

They tweeted: "DUBLIN - Four motorists were arrested for DUI during 'Operation Surround' in Clondalkin on Saturday.

"The operation was carried out by Units from DMR Roads Policing Dublin Castle, DMR North Central, DMR North,
DMR West."

The Chapelizod driver was nabbed after being clocked driving at 119kph in an 80kph zone.

They wrote: "DMR Roads Policing Unit detect a motorist speeding on the R148 Chapelizod bypass.

"Speeds of 119kph in an 80kph zone. Over the limit for alcohol at 11am."

Meanwhile the motorist in Temple Bar was apprehended after 'driving erratically' in the busy city centre hotspot.

They tweeted: "In the early hours of Good Friday, Pearse Street Gardaí observed a vehicle driving erratically in Templebar.

"Driver arrested on suspicion of drink driving and subsequently charged.

"Court to follow.

"Not an 'eggcellent' start to the Easter weekend for this driver.”

And earlier today, a drug driver was nabbed during a routine MIT checkpoint in Blackrock.

They wrote: "DUBLIN - 'Drug Driver' arrested in Blackrock as part of Operation Surround during MIT checkpoints carried out by Units from DMR Roads Policing Division Dublin Castle, DMR South and DMR East."

The Garda traffic blitz as part of 'Operation Surround', also saw a whopping 14 motorists stopped along the N4 Palmerstown stretch for speeding.

The Gardai tweeted: "DUBLIN - DMR Roads Policing conducted speed detections on the N4 Palmerston - 14 motorists were stopped for exceeding the 60kph limit, one reached a speed of 128kph.

"Please slow down & drive within the speed limits.

"ArriveAlive this holiday weekend."
