Easter Bank Holiday weather: Manchester will be hotter than Majorca... but not for long

Temperatures are set to soar to more than 20C for the start of the Bank Holiday Easter break, but sadly it isn't going to last for the whole weekend.

According to the Met Office warm air is drifting over the whole of the UK on Friday and Saturday causing temperatures to warm up.

There will be highs of around 21C on Friday and 22C on Saturday - meaning Manchester will be warmer than the Spanish Balearic island of Majorca this weekend.

Forecasters have said it will remain dry, with long spells of bright sunshine and it will feel much warmer compared to earlier this week.

However, the start of the weekend is the best time to get out and about if you are planning any time outdoors. By Easter Sunday temperatures will start to dip again.

Becky Mitchell, meteorologist at the Met Office, said: "Friday will get the best of the dry, warm, sunny weather. The start of the weekend will be the best on Friday and Saturday. It will be dry on Friday and on Saturday with sunny spells.

"In terms of temperatures for those two days Friday in Manchester will be 21C. On Saturday it will be 22C.  It will be much warmer weather than what we have seen recently. It will feel pleasant in the warm sunshine.

"On Easter Sunday it will be more cloudy, with light rain and drizzle.

"It won't be as warm, with temperatures down to 17C. But it will stay dry and fine in some places, most of the rain will be in the hills.

"Monday will be another cloudy day. Breezy and we could possibly see a few showers as well."
