EastEnders villain Leo left incriminating evidence to set up Whitney before death

EastEnders fans will learn Leo King's true intentions for Whitney Dean in upcoming scenes, months on from his dramatic death.

Whitney accidentally killed her stalker Leo in self-defence in February, stabbing him with the knife he planned to kill her with.

After months of torment, he began spying on her from the attic of her own home before attempting to murder her in cold blood.

But now it's been revealed he planned to frame her over the torment, and make it look as though it was her stalking him.

Whitney was sent to prison for the crime after police believed he wasn't stalking her, and that she killed him deliberately.

Her lawyer Gray Atkins managed to find the evidence needed to prove otherwise, and she was released on bail ahead of her looming trial.

Leo had planned to kill Whitney, but it turns out he also wanted to frame her in the process and give himself a motive for killing her.

He left his mum Michaela an incriminating voice message setting his ex up as a threatening person, who left him fearing for his own life.

In the message recorded prior to his death he claimed Whitney had threatened to kill him, while also suggesting she'd been threatening him for a while with messages.

Of course viewers know this isn't the case, with Leo in fact stalking Whitney for months - and now Michaela has kidnapped her.

The messages convinced Leo's mum that he was in trouble, and after his death she was left convinced her son had been murdered.

Michaela's message says: "Mum, it's me. I know I sound mad but I'm really worried she's gonna do something.

"She’s been sending more of those messages, threatening message. She says she's gonna kill me mum, I'm scared."

So Leo was clearly planning to get off the hook after killing Whitney, ready to claim that it was self-defence,only for him to get killed in the process with Whitney now forced to try and prove her innocence.

But can Whitney convince Michaela her son was lying?

EastEnders airs Mondays at 8pm, and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
