EastEnders viewers spot new clues Dean Wicks is murder victim after knight comment

EastEnders viewers think they've worked out who gets murdered on Christmas Day this year, after a series of clues hinted at a returning character being killed off.

While a return has not been confirmed for the man in question, they did make a reappearance of sorts recently leaving one resident horrified.

Linda Carter was left struggling when she learned her mother-in-law Shirley Carter was back in contact with her son Dean Wicks.

Viewers will recall Dean raped Linda in 2014, resulting in his exit from the BBC soap two years later and since then there has been no contact.

Dean's sudden comeback aired just as the special flashfoward clip was revealed, which detailed a gruesome death on Christmas Day 2023 with six suspects.

Linda, Kathy Beale, Denise Fox, Suki Panesar, Stacey Slater and Sharon Watts are all in the scene and could all be the killer, while the motive is yet to be revealed.

It has not been confirmed which male character is lying dead on the floor, but a recent comment by Kathy prior to the flashfoward clip has left fans convinced they have it sussed.

Linda confided in Kathy about the picture of Dean and how it "brought it all back" in reference to the trauma around her rape ordeal.

But Kathy defiantly told her that she and her friends would build a protective wall around her if Dean tried to return to Walford.

This comment had viewers immediately suspecting that Kathy, Stacey, Suki, Sharon and Denise would be that wall, and could end up killing Dean to save Linda.

Seeing Linda had a split lip as if she had been attacked in the flashforward, and also noticing the knight in the background which appears to have some relevance, viewers were convinced this all meant Dean was the victim.

Most of the women have links to Dean, with Denise being his former stepmother, Stacey being his ex and Linda being raped by her brother-in-law.

Kathy and Sharon are close to Linda, while Kathy has been raped in the past and was able to confront one of her attackers - while Suki is in an abusive marriage.

Viewers believe all six women therefore have a reason to want to help Linda, and will want to take down Dean - while Denise's 'D' necklace in the flashforward could also be another hint at the victim, fans said.

Show boss Chris Clenshaw recently teased of Linda getting a buyer for her pub: "Both Sharon and Nish are hoping to get the keys to the castle, but her knight in shining armour may not be who you think."

This reference to a knight in shining armour just after fans saw the knight, as well as Kathy telling Linda the girls would protect her from Dean, left many speculating this was a hint as to what goes down at Christmas.

Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts on the clues and came up with the conclusion it will be Dean who dies.

One viewer said: "kathy literally said if dean does come back you will have a wall of friends to protect you is that not hinting."

Another agreed: "I believe it is, especially when the very same women in that lock in are surrounding the body & Lindas obviously been hit."

A third viewer added: "Linda’s wall of friends protecting her. Her knights in shining armour. Her split lip. The most significant reaction was Linda. It all points to Dean for me."

The comments kept on coming too, with a fourth reading: "My money’s on Dean Wicks after the wall of friends remark."

Another said: "If its dean kathy said you've got a wall of people round you to stop him getting near you, what if he's at the vic waiting for her + the girls defend her as he gets violent trying to get to her which would explain why she comes out the back+is shocked at what she sees."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
