EastEnders viewers baffled by memorial to Dennis after spotting imposter

EastEnders viewers were left baffled by a memorial to Dennis Mitchell at the beginning of today's show.

At the start of the episode, Ian Beale walked out of his house to pick up a package and looked out across the Square.

Nervous Ian looked over at a beaming Dotty, who has been blackmailing him over trapping Dennis in the boat.

The camera shot lingered over a photo of Dennis hanging up on the railings next to a West Ham scarf.

One viewer was convinced it was actually a photo of Janice Battersby from Coronation Street, while others suggested it was another actor.

EastEnders viewers took to Twitter after watching the bizarre moment.

One asked: "Why is there a photo of Janice Battersby on Denny’s memorial?"

"#Eastenders they used the old actor's photo of Denny as a kid? It was TOTALLY a different actor," added another.

Later on, Dotty made a surprise appearance at dinner, making it a very uncomfortable experience for Ian.

When Sharon admitted she misses Dennis every moment of every day, Dotty claimed she missed his "honesty".

Looking at Ian, she said: "He was not afraid to say it how it is. Takes real courage even if you know it will make people uncomfortable."

Furious Ian took Dotty into the kitchen and claimed she was not getting The Arches as she had no evidence of what he did to Dennis.

However, insisting it was not about that anymore, Dotty asked: "How can you sit there day after day and look her in the eye. That is a special type of twisted."

EastEnders fans were also distracted by Bobby Beale's 'coronavirus lockdown haircut'.

Ian Beale's son caused quite a stir on social media after unveiling his new hairdo - with some viewers asking if he did it himself.

An announcement before the show revealed the episode was filmed before the UK went into lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But that didn't stop Bobby facing comparisons with real-life lads who have attempted to shave their own hair.

*EastEnders airs on BBC One on Mondays at 8pm and Tuesdays at 7.30pm
