EastEnders teases fans with gruesome hints about double death at Christmas

With the big day fast approaching, one question's sitting patiently on the lips of EastEnders fans - what can we expect from Walford this year?

The EastEnders Christmas specials are famously dramatic - and often tragic - affairs, and 2019 will be no expception.

An EastEnders higher up has confirmed that we can expect not one, but two savage deaths.

Long-standing cast member Steve McFadden's Phil Mitchell is set to get to grips with who the dad of his wife's baby is, while James Bye's Martin Fowler and Tayla Kovakevic-Ebong's Charlie "Tubbs" Savage have been confirmed for a heartbreaking hit and run incident.

Phil wants answers after Sharon had an affair (BBC / Jack Barnes)

It's rumoured that Keanu Taylor could be meeting his end for his fling with Phil's wife, Sharon, while Martin and Tubbs' victim remains a total mystery.

Phil previously thought that it was Scott Maslen's Jack Branning - however he finds out the truth of it, he and son Ben, played by Max Bowden, are on the hunt.

Martin will be involved in one of the deaths - but who will meet their end? (BBC)

It's not the first time Martin's driving has got someone killed - back in 2002 he hit Jamie Mitchell with a car.

EastEnders' Senior Executive Producer, Kate Oates, told Daily Star Online : "If you cross one Mitchell, you cross them all.

"There's a little bit of a twist in there as to who will strike the killer blow."

She added of Martin and Tubbs: "They left a guy lying in the road so there's still that to play out.

"And the resonance for Martin over what happened with Jamie will be there too."

*EastEnders returns to BBC One this evening at 8pm, while the Christmas Day special will air at 9:30pm.
