The last time Mel Owen and Max Branning were seen together, they were fighting in Albert Square. But yesterday former EastEnders actors, Tamzin Outhwaite and Jake Wood posted a matching pair of photographs and friendly messages on each other’s Instagram accounts.
Jake, 48, almost unrecognisable under his huge bushy beard, posted to his 180,000 followers:
“Great bumping into my previous work mucker this week. So it turns out there is life outside the Square”
To which Tamzin replied: “Definitely lots of life outside of and beyond the Square!! So good to catch up xx”
On her page, Jake had written: “Great seeing you Tam” and she’d responded: “You too mate xx”

Tamzin, 50 explained to her 295,000 followers how the reunion had come about. She’s spent a hectic day and night, first flying into Glasgow to take part on a game show.
As well as meeting up with Jake, she’d also squeezed in a chance to have a bite to eat with one of her oldest friends, actress Angela Griffin, who was also filming in the Scottish city.
The actress wrote: “19 hours in Glasgow... I don’t think I could have squeezed any more from this trip.
"Taxi, plane, taxi, hotel, wake up, make up, quiz show, taxi, lunch, taxi, plane, taxi, home.

"A lovely reunion with @mrjakewood...and then the most delicious lunch where one of my bestest @theangelagriffin who happens to be filming in Glasgow, joined us... such a treat on every level. #19hoursinGlasgow.”
In EastEnders, Tamzin and Max’s characters, scheming Mel Owen and womaniser Max Branning, had a brief fling. Max had snogged Mel, not knowing that she had hatched a long-term plan to discredit his brother Jack.
While Tamzin left the long-running soap in 2019, Jake’s final scenes were shown earlier this year.
