EastEnders' Melissa Suffield shares candid motherhood selfie with cabbage in her bra

Former EastEnders star Melissa Suffield gave fans a candid insight into her motherhood journey after she decided to resort to a natural remedy in a bid to cure her sore breasts.

The 28-year-old former BBC star, who gave birth to her son one year ago, explained to followers that her breasts were feeling 'lumpy' so she decided to stuff the cabbage leaves down her top.

In the social media snap, that Melissa shared with her 16,400 Instagram followers, the actress appeared to glance down at her chest while a green cabbage leaf stuck out from her top.

"Cabbage life," Melissa wrote. "10 days since I last pumped, and feeling a little lumpy bumpy, so time to employ a helping hand!"

Cabbage leaves are considered to have anti-inflammatory benefits and have been used as an at-home remedy for decades. Other news mums such as Paloma Faith have also recently documented their experience of using cabbage leaves to soothe painful breasts.

Melissa has been on cloud nine ever since she welcomed baby River with her fiancé Robert Brendan.

The blonde star, who played Lucy Beale on the soap from 2004 until 2010, has also been sharing lots of honest posts with her followers as she documented one year of being a mum.

Earlier this month, the new mum revealed that she had finished breastfeeding after a whole year and planned to indulge in coffee and ditch her maternity underwear as a result.

Alongside the update, the mum of one slipped into a gorgeous lingerie set and beamed from ear to ear as she confidently showed off her curves.

She wrote at the time: "Finishing breastfeeding after a year, I’m like OH HEY BODY, WELCOME BACK.

"It feels good to know I can start to concentrate on myself again, and take back some ownership after pregnancy and pumping."

Melissa continued: "Starting on making little daily changes, whether that’s an extra caffeinated coffee, or underwear that isn’t for feeding a baby.

"Who knows where my body is going to go from now, but I’m all about doing what I can to make myself feel good TODAY. And getting out of crop tops and maternity pants is certainly a good place to start."

The actress has also been inundated with messages from fans who have praised the star for her honest updates about being a mum.
