EastEnders' star selling clothes to pay mortgage after roles dry up during pandemic

Former EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite has started to sell personal items including her clothes to pay for her mortgage.

The 50-year-old star, who appeared in BBC soap between 1998 and 2019, has spoken about the effects of the pandemic on the acting industry.

While Tamzin did appear in a production during the pandemic that was filmed from her home, the actress has admitted that this year has been tough, reports The Mirror.

Speaking on the Irregular B****** podcast, she revealed she was even selling clothing online to make ends meet.

"I'm in a situation at the moment where I'm starting to sell things. I'm about to set up a website for things that I've either created or bought and don't need anymore. Home things, clothing.

The mother-of-two added: "I just think this is going to be probably how I'm going to pay my mortgage and exist for a while, until our industry comes back."

While chatting on the show, Tamzin, who also starred in detective drama New Tricks, said she loved a good car boot sale and has even considered becoming an influencer to make ends meet.

"I'm not snobby or proud about what I do. I love a car boot sale, but everything is online. I'm thinking of ways of: 'How do I do that now?'

"I'm not proud. 'Oh god, influencers make money, how do you go about doing that? I'm working out ways I could maybe do that. I'm in a decent situation. I can put my career on hold for a while and we will still eat."

Her startling revelations came after she appeared in a new television series called Dun Breedin, that was recorded from her home.

She was joined by Tracy-Ann Oberman, Alison Newman, Angela Griffin and Denise Welch and follows a group of women going through the menopause.
