EastEnders star reveals her secret to 6.5 stone weight loss: 'Best thing I've ever done'

EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley has opened up about how she lost 6.5 stone.

The 49-year-old, who played Karen Taylor on the BBC soap from 2017 to 2024, has slimmed down to eight stone in the last two years.

Stanley revealed she tried taking weight loss jab Wegovy, but she felt that it stopped working for her and she became “immune” to it.

“It got to the point where I was injecting myself and eating at the same time,” she told the Mirror.

The soap star decided to have a gastric sleeve fitted in 2023.

“I went to a London clinic, paid an awful lot of money and had it done,” she enthused.

Stanley added: “It's hands-down the best thing I've ever done – both for me and for my family.”

The actress started doing daily workouts and eating well to maintain her weight loss.

She praised her nutritionist friend who “clued her up when it came to what she was eating day-to-day”.

“My mate Louise is my fitness guru. I've got her to thank for it,” the TV star told Woman’s Own.

“I've eaten a lot of boiled eggs, fish, chicken, no carbs, no crisps and no chocolate. I'm enjoying it and I feel better for it.”

In June, Stanley revealed she had also cut out alcohol and was five months sober.

Sharing a photos of herself in a patterned co-ord on a night out, she wrote: “I'm five months sober and still had a good night dancing! #Sobriety.”

Her former EastEnders co-star Diane Parish, who plays Denise in EastEnders, commented: “You look incredible!”

James Bye, who plays Martin Fowler, added: “Look at you skinny minny xx miss you mate xx”

In another post, Stanley wrote: “What a difference a year makes.

“Five stone down, feeling good, clean living, healthy choices, new me, healthy mummy.”

The actress previously revealed she lost 12lbs in her first six weeks on her new diet.
