EastEnders star Perry Fenwick used to be married to rival Coronation Street beauty

EastEnders star Perry Fenwick once was married to Coronation Street actress Angela Lonsdale.

Soap worlds collided when the EastEnders actor, famous for playing Billy Mitchell, and Coronation Street beauty, known as police officer Emma Taylor, fell in love once upon a time.

Quickly they cemented their status as one of the strongest couples in the showbiz world after tying the knot in 2005.

But their marriage crumbled just five years on and they went their separate ways in 2010.

At the time, a spokesman for the couple said: "Perry Fenwick and Angela Lonsdale have sadly separated after five years of marriage.

"They will not be making any further comment."

Perry, 58, has continued his long-serving role in EastEnders since he started out as Billy in 1998.

His character is a distant relative of Phil Mitchell.

In comparison, Angela starred in Coronation Street for three years between 2000 and 2003.

In her personal life, the actress married for a second time as she said "I do" to guitarist Jonny Davies in 2016.

Recently, Angela revealed the first national lockdown in the UK had made her "more grateful" for everything.

At the time, Angela told OK! magazine : "Lockdown made me feel more grateful.

"I feel grateful to reconnect with my best friends. Our first night here we were all so giddy to be together.

"It was a barmy hot summer’s night."
