EastEnders star Melissa Suffield in hospital dash with son for third time in two weeks

Former EastEnders star Melissa Suffield has shared the worrying news that she's had to rush her young son to hospital for the third time in just 16 days.

The 29-year-old, who played Lucy Beale in the BBC 1 soap between 2004 and 2010 revealed on her Instagram story that she and River, 2, had been taken A&E via an ambulance in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The actress posted a picture of River sat up on a hospital bed, smiling as he ate a biscuit, which she captioned: "We ended up in ambulance again after a 2am 111 call. Back to A&E AGAIN. That's 3 visits in the last 16 days.

"Given 3 loads of nebuliser (he was NOT a fan) and some meds and he perked right up. Very much enjoyed having a biscuit in bed and making a friend who he called Baby, even though she was older than him!"

Melissa continued: "Have been sent home with inhalers to wean from the various nebulisers and some more meds. Basically very pleased we went in as its absolutely where he needed to be. Always trust your instincts.

"Just a nasty virus being nasty. Fingers crossed it passes quickly now I am not up for a 4th visit next week. But more than anything just pleased he's better now."

After leaving Albert Square 12 years ago Melissa has done very little else in the way of acting.

Instead she has become well known for documenting her life as a parent on social media and is an advocate for body confidence.

In July, meanwhile, the mother-of-one was in hospital yet again - this time for herself after suffering an injury at home.

"So we tidied the garden, filled and covered the pool, dealt with the weeds, all ready so we don't have to do anything tomorrow," she said on Instagram.

"I put the indoor rug outside to cover the hot decking and also expose the stone floor inside to help regulate the temperature in here.

"And then I stepped into the kitchen and slipped on one of River's toys and have BUSTED my ankle."
