EastEnders star Max Bowden teases drama for 'Ballum' as Ben Mitchell's dark side revisited

EastEnders' Max Bowden has teased a rough ride for Ben Mitchell as his dark side is revisited.

Speaking to Mirror TV on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards, Max teased drama for 'Ballum' in the coming months.

Picking at the ceremony, the actor said of his tricky soap counterpart: "I think with Ben you always get a bit of everything because he's such a complex and layered character.

"Certainly in the next few weeks with Martin [Fowler], we've got that battle with him but with the darkness there is light at the end of the tunnel which is Callum.

"There's lots of different things going on inside Ben's head. He never knows how to deal with things, and it's about finding that balance," he continued.

Ben and Callum have been enjoying their romance, with Calllum standing up to his homophobic father for the bad boy Mitchell.

But it wasn't long before his other half discovered his bad ways and their relationship will be put to the test.

Max teased Callum's reaction: "We'll have to wait and see. I think the thing is, Ben is so secretive with everything and whether Callum finds out straight away is yet to be seen.

"It's definitely not gonna be rosy is it cos some of Ben's actions are not warranted.

Referring to threats aimed at his onscreen daughter on the soap, he joked: "No one touches my little Lexi."

Spoilers for next week's episodes have revealed his pal Lola Pearce, the mother of his daughter Lexi, will be kidnapped.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
