Jessie Wallace has been warned by producers it is time to clean up her act, or she will not be returning to the job.
The 48-year-old Eastenders actress who plays Kat Slater, is currently suspended from filming after being caught boozing behind the scenes.
However, the legendary yet rowdy actress knows that this grace period will be her last chance to get back on track.
A friend of Jessie explained to The Sun: “She knows one more strike and she could be out. Something needs to change.
“It’s a well known saying within Eastenders that nobody is bigger than the soap.”
After being part of the Albert Square cast on-and-off for 20 years, Jessie admitted that she “needs time out,” a source told the publication.
She is currently facing a two month ban after reportedly “making an a**e” of herself whilst filming the 35th anniversary episode, forcing writers to temporarily omit her character from the storyline.
How Jessie uses her break from the show appears to be pivotal to the star’s future career.
Jessie is not a stranger to being disciplined over her drinking habits whilst representing the BBC show, and she has faced a series of troublesome partying periods in the past.
Almost two years earlier, Wallace was sent home from the British Soap Awards because she was too drunk.
Unflattering pictures of her partying in London three years ago also show her being carried over the shoulder of a bouncer out of a club.
In the 2000s she was also suspended from Eastenders the first time as a result of excess partying.
Jessie is yet to open up to fans on social media about her suspension, or what lies in store for Eastenders viewers during her time off from the show.
Cast members and fans are eager for Jessie to get back to filming, but the make or break will be whether the actress can control her temptations.
She risks losing her job as the difference between her off-screen self and her mouthy, drink-loving character becomes increasingly blurred.
