Jessica Plummer has shared photos of her acne in an inspiring post on Instagram.
The EastEnders star, 27, is currently portraying a very topical domestic abuse storyline on the BBC One soap opera involving her popular character Chantelle Atkins.
However, the actress has also got an important story from her own life to share.
Jessica took to her Instagram account on Wednesday to share two snaps: one of herself with glowing skin and her hair wrapped in a towel and a second image from last year with acne on her face.
The images were posted with a lengthy caption and the location set to 'No Filter'.
Jessica wrote: "Eeek.. so I been psyching myself up to post this... mer.. pretty much since 6000 of you told me to.
"As much as I feel I don’t portray a “perfect” image on my social platforms (& actually try purposely to do the opposite), Iv never quite shared something as raw and honest as this."
Jessica then described the purpose of the post and what the two images show.
She continued: "The first picture was this morning, the second was last year summer Aka the most stressful period of my life, albeit nothing to do with my skin, through probably played a big part in why I was breaking out.
"As much as I didn’t appreciate the new friends on my face, I didn’t allow it to stop me going out with friends or going to the gym like I used to a few years ago.
"See spots & I go way back. Ironically I had almost perfect skin as a teenager. It wasn’t till my early 20’s I started to break out
"However, annoying as the little f***ers are, they are completely normal, and to be honest I almost felt a responsibility (s**t this sounds a bit deep.. I’m sure it’s not that deep to show my bare “bumpy” (as my daughter calls it) face to make that so."
The former Neon Jungle singer then discussed how she has tried to treat her skin issues and her current skincare routine.
She detailed: "To keep it all the way real, “clear skin” is something I probably will never naturally have without maintenance.
"As much as I would love to think my issues would be solved by cutting dairy & sugar and carbs & sugar & all fruit & sugar, not touching my face, & did I mention sugar? ... it would all be too easy
"My breakouts are HORMONAL, that is not something that can be controlled by diet or cleanliness etc."
The mother-of-one added: "Mindset is everything, u can prob law of attraction clear skin."
Thankfully, Jessica is well aware that with or without her acne issues she is still a beautiful person.
Jessica concluded her post: "ANYWAY, that being said, I was still buff last year, I’m buff now, and so are YOU u lil buffy..️xx"
