EastEnders star Diane Parish confirms 'dark' scenes ahead as Lucas Johnson returns

EastEnders actress Diane Parish has revealed all on "dark" moments ahead for her character Denise Fox, as her killer ex Lucas Johnson returns.

The BBC soap confirmed the comeback earlier this month, with the villain having been in prison since 2010.

From killing his ex-wife with a rake to kidnapping Denise and faking her death, Lucas terrorised Walford during his last stint.

But now, he's heading back to Albert Square after last appearing in a prison scene in 2016.

Denise will get the shock of her life when he returns, but what does he want and is she in danger?

Actress Diane, speaking on The One Show, teased "dark" times ahead amid the comeback.

She told hosts Jermaine Jenas and Alex Jones: "It’s all sort of falling apart at the moment.

"We’ve got some dark moments coming up and some other characters coming into her life who are just making it even worse."

Don Gilet said he is delighted to be back (BBC)

EastEnders recently confirmed Lucas' return, posting an image on social media and revealing: "Don Gilet is returning to Walford as one of E20’s most notorious bad guys, Lucas Johnson, later in the year.

"Four years after he left The Square his comeback is set to cause shockwaves amongst the residents."

Actor Don also had his say, commenting: " I’m thrilled and honoured to be asked to breathe life once again into such a complex, controversial and divisive character but, most importantly, to have another opportunity to work alongside one of the UK’s finest actors, Diane Parish. I feel blessed."

Meanwhile, Executive Producer Jon Sen added: “Bringing back Don to the Square has been on our wish list for some time now as there’s definitely some unfinished business with Lucas and he certainly hasn’t let Denise go.

"His reign of terror put him firmly up there with Walford’s biggest villains and I can’t wait for audiences to watch his return unfold."

EastEnders airs Mondays at 8:05pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:35pm, and Fridays at 8:30pm on BBC One.
