EastEnders star Clair Norris heartbroken as beloved pet dog is put to sleep

Clair Norris has shared a sweet tribute to her beloved dog after having her put to sleep.

The EastEnders actress, who plays Bernadette Taylor on the soap, shared her devastation at the loss of Lucie, and has since been met with a flood of supportive messages from co-stars and fans alike.

"My Little Lucie Locket ~ 06.04.21," Clair captioned a photo of the pooch.

"11 & A Half Years You've Watched Me Grow From A Young Girl To A Woman Being By My Side Every Step Of The Way.

"We Made A Heartbreaking Decision, But We Know It's Time For You To Run Free, Chasing Endless ButterFlies & Pigeons & Lots Of Treats!"

She concluded: "I Miss You Already."

Ash Kaur actress Gurlaine Kaur Garcha led the comments, writing: "so hard losing your doggie. sending you all my love."

Luisa Bradshaw-White, who plays Tina Carter, added: "I'm so sorry darling."

Sonia Fowler's Natalie Cassidy left a string of heart emojis, while Tiffany Butcher star and Strictly finalist Maisie Smith wrote: "Sending you so much love Clair."

Clair's Bernadette first appeared on the Square in 2017, when she was just 20.

It was her first ever small screen role, the star admitting at the time: "I never in a million years thought my first TV role would be in EastEnders.

"It's surreal but I'm ever so grateful to be given the opportunity."

The character fell pregnant within weeks of making her Walford debut, with fans speculating that the father was actually her brother Keanu, played by Danny Walters.

The real dad turned out to be someone from school, Bernadette involved in emotional scenes after she lost the baby at 18 weeks due to stress suffered from a terrifying gas explosion.
