EastEnders spoilers reveal concern for Isaac amid schizophrenia storyline

EastEnders is lining up new scenes for Isaac Baptiste, with his loved ones left worried about him.

While few details have been confirmed, Isaac will worry his mum Sheree and girlfriend Lola when he freezes while talking.

After a few drinks during a meal with the pair, as well as his student Bailey and her brother Keegan, Isaac experiences the moment in front of his loved ones.

While it's not explained, the situation concerns Sheree when her son suddenly freezes mid-conversation according to new spoilers.

It's not yet clear what happens to Isaac and what it means, but it comes amid the character making a big decision about his schizophrenia diagnosis.

Isaac recently confided in dad Patrick and girlfriend Lola about his condition, despite mum Sheree trying to make him keep it a secret from everyone.

After learning about his "misunderstood" brother Paul's murder years ago, as well as Patrick's plan to take part in a medical trial after a stroke, Isaac worried things were not all as they seemed.

He decided to stop taking his medication, wondering if his diagnosis had been a mistake the entire time.

Without telling anyone, he came off his medication hoping to test whether he needed them or not.

Weeks on, and could the moment in the restaurant be linked to his diagnosis?

It's been confirmed his mental health will decline as the storyline continues, with Isaac not convinced he has schizophrenia.

He will start to experience symptoms of the disorder after binning his medication as part of the long-running plot, with EastEnders working with the mental health charity Mind for the scenes.

Viewers will see how Isaac manages his mental health on a daily basis, while the plot aims to highlight the stigmatised attitudes towards the disorder.

Speaking of the plot, actor Stevie Basaula revealed: "This is close to my heart, to be telling Isaac’s story is a privilege. I hope it will start a dialogue for people to have conversations about mental health and that anyone living with the condition will feel seen.

"Working with Mind has been so useful, I spoke to a young man who bravely shared his story and it was inspiring to learn how he’s managing his condition.

"There’s so much we think we know about schizophrenia, but it’s often not the reality for people living with the condition.

"I hope that anyone engaging with Isaac’s story will gain a better understanding and can approach someone they know that may be struggling from a more positive place."

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
