Linda Carter will be left terrified that Max Branning will return to Albert Square next week on EastEnders.
The Queen Vic landlady is pregnant with her former lover’s baby but is telling the world that beloved husband Mick Carter is the father.
Max departed Walford in February this year after his chances of romantic happiness with Linda fell apart, but since kidnapped granddaughter Abi Branning Jr. during the toddler’s visit to Paris.
Abi’s adopted mother Rainie Highway was devastated that Max took her child away and has been searching for her ever since.
Next week, Rainie and her husband Stuart argue over finding Abi and Linda tries to comfort Rainie, feeling guilty that Max left Walford because of her.
However, Linda soon starts to worry that Rainie and Max will figure out the truth about her pregnancy.
Later in the week, Stuart’s grandmother Violet “Vi” Highway comments to Rainie that Linda is looking very big for someone as far along as she is.
A suspicious Rainie then goes to visit Linda and asks for a cup of tea, giving her a chance to root around amongst the landlady’s belongings and find her hospital bag when Linda isn’t present.
By the end of the week, the pub is celebrating Pride and Linda wants to check in with Rainie and worries she may be asking a bit too many questions and what it means.
Mick tries to reassure his wife that if Rainie was really getting ideas about Linda’s pregnancy then we would know.
In that moment, Max’s brother Jack Branning arrives in the pub and approaches Linda and tells her he wants to know the truth.
Has Jack discovered something and, if so, what will the consequences be for Linda?
Fans of the soap will be aware that actress Kellie Brigh t has gone on maternity leave, meaning that Linda will be departing our screens in the coming weeks.
