The Neighbours cast made an amusing 30th birthday tribute to EastEnders last month, spoofing memorable moments from the Walford-set soap. Monkey noted at the time that it would be good for the stars of EastEnders to return the compliment – and now they have. Jason Donovan stars as an Australian getting a distinctly “unneighbourly” welcome in the E20’s “Ramsay Square”. Directed by Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt, the tribute has a playfully dark tone, with Danny Dyer and Maddy Hill shown lifting a body into the boot of a car and Donovan being tied up by Aunt Babe (Annette Badland) before being force-fed her trifle. Monkey particularly enjoyed the scene when Badland tells Donovan that she made the trifle “especially for you” – the title of his 1988 hit with fellow Neighbours star Kylie Minogue.
