EastEnders showdown as Phil Mitchell attacks Jonno Highway over Callum discovery

EastEnders airs a showdown between Phil Mitchell and Jonno Highway on Tuesday, as events take a violent turn.

Phil takes Jonno on in order to protect son Ben's love interest Callum Highway - amid hopes Ballum will finally get together.

Callum finally stands up to his homophobic dad Jonno, amid his blossoming romance with Ben, but things soon get out of hand.

When Jonno learns that not only was Cal's wedding to Whitney Dean cancelled but his son is also gay, he grabs Callum in front of everyone and tries to attack him - while Ben tries to stop him, pushing him away.

As things escalate, pictures reveal an unlikely source jumps in as Ben's dad Phil storms over and punches Jonno causing him to fall to the floor with a bloody nose.

Those in the pub watch on as Phil takes a swing for him, as a distraught Callum remains with Ben and Lola Pearce - with Phil then issuing a stern warning.

With Jonno firmly in his place, will this be the last we see of him and what does it mean for Ballum?

Viewers will no doubt be hoping Callum and Ben can finally get together, with it clear they want to make things work.

The pair shared a kiss last week after their plans for a date fell through, but in Monday's episode things didn't exactly go to plan yet again.

After being reminded of his history with men by pal Jay and brother Ian, Ben put absolutely nothing into his date with Callum leaving him gutted.

To make matters worse he then kissed another man - but all is not lost as in Tuesday's episode, Callum learns his brother Stuart meddled with the date, with it also clear Ben purposely kissed the club goer to protect the man he clearly loves.

Cal wants to make amends with Ben and issues Stuart a warning ahead of his dad's return to Walford.

As he seeks Ben out in the pub before chaos ensues, will he manage to convince Ben to give romance a chance?

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
