EastEnders' Phil Mitchell kisses Sharon after she tries to stab him at Dennis' wake

Phil and Sharon Mitchell finally had a heart-to-heart this evening as they grieved over Dennis on EastEnders tonight.

Initially, the evening didn't start off well when Phil burst into the Queen Vic during Dennis' wake.

Grabbing a knife, Sharon tried to attack Phil as she yelled at him: "You killed him, you killed my boy!"

The Beales brought her round to theirs, but Phil followed close behind, banging on the door until he managed to get in.

Sharon snarled at him to "rot in hell" as she let out her rage at him.

A hurting Phil exclaimed: "You didn't even tell me it was his funeral!

"You killed my son, you killed his dad," she retorted.

"I had to find out from Billy," Phil replied.

Sharon continued: "You've got a full house, congratulations!"

Phil insisted: "He was my son, my son and I loved him.

She interrupted: "He was my son, my son!"

After she begged him to leave her alone, Phil took a framed photo of Dennis to the Arches.

Sharon later found him and the pair had a heart to heart.

"This is where he came to get away when he was angry," Sharon said. "I knew when he was with you, he was safe."

They moved on to Phil's house and he admitted to the huge guilt he felt over Dennis' death.

"If i could do anything to have him here one more day to see him here with you," he said. "I didn't know he was on that boat, Sharon... I didn't think the boat would crash, i didn't think anyone would die."

He continued: "He was still just a kid, weren't he? You were right, he should have been safe with me. I took him from you because i knew it would hurt you.... today i just wanted our little boy back."

"I am so, so sorry, hurting you, Keanu and the baby," Sharon replied.

Phil insisted: "It doesn't matter now."

"It does, because whatever I was missing, I was still your wife," she said.

He replied: "Sharon, none of this is your fault, none of it."

"But it is because I started it, I started all of it," Sharon said.

"I'm here," he told her.

Sharon reached out and put her hand over his.

Later, she fell asleep on the sofa and Phil kissed her, before handing himself in to the police.
