EastEnders' Phil Mitchell disowns son Ben and downs 'vodka' after discovering truth

Phil Mitchell finally discovered (most of) the truth from Ben after threatening to down vodka in front of him.

During last night's episode of EastEnders, Phil found out from Kat that Keanu Taylor had been framed by Ben as Kat warned him that she couldn't trust him.

So this evening, Phil sat Ben down and slammed a bottle of booze down on the table in front of him, threatening to drink if it Ben didn't tell him the truth.

A tearful Ben said: "I was going to take it all from you, fleece your house - that was the grand plan."

But when Phil asked why, Ben burst into hysterical laughter, saying: "You've really got to ask that? Got to ask why?!"

Ben continued: "The way you treated me when I first came out... well, it wasn't exactly stellar parenting, was it? Or leaving me naked on a motorway? Or shall we go all the way back with the pathetic failures of Phil Mitchell... or failing to tell me that my mother was still alive?!"

Yet Phil failed to be moved by Ben's tears and asked whether he was done.

He then pointed out (wrongly) that Sharon was about to have his baby brother and asked whether Ben would be "jealous" of them as well.

Ben retorted: "What about me? What about me, dad? When will I ever be enough for you?!"

But Phil insisted that he "didn't give a toss" that he was gay but said that his "stupid insecurities" put Louise in danger again.

Ben said: "I know I've been an idiot, but please don't do this. I changed my mind."

Phil then downed the glass and then the bottle, before revealing that it was just water.

"I had to get you to talk somehow," Phil said. "I put the pieces together myself but I had to hear it from your filthy, filthy mouth."

He added, snarling: "Get out. I never want to see your lying face around ever again."
