EastEnders: Phil Mitchell and Mel Owen go to war in fallout to Hunter's deadly siege

Tensions rise on EastEnders next week, as Phil Mitchell goes to war with Mel Owen in the fallout to the siege.

Mel's teen son Hunter Owen took hostages in The Queen Vic pub, before shooting Phil's son Ben and leaving him fighting for his life.

If that wasn't bad enough, he then threatened to shoot Phil's pregnant daughter Louise, and nearly did but was shot dead by armed police officers before he got the chance.

Ben is still in hospital recovering, as is Louise' partner Keanu Taylor who also got shot trying to save the mother of his unborn child.

Next week, things remain frosty between the Mitchells and Mel, who is grieving for her son.

As she prepares to plan his funeral, she's distraught when Phil stops her getting money from the club account meaning she is unable to afford much at all.

To make things worse, Phil tells surrogate son of sorts Jay Brown, who works at the funeral parlour, to refuse to arrange the service.

Jay eventually doesn't have the heart to turn Mel away, and allows her in to the undertakers to say a final farewell to her son before she lays him to rest.

Louise wants to go to the funeral of her former friend, despite him trying to kill her, to give her aunt Mel all the support she can.

But a furious Phil declares no Mitchell will attend, leaving her conflicted - and leading to a showdown between him and Mel in the pub on the day of the service.

With pal Lisa's support, Mel tries to stay strong but it's not long before things become fraught once more with her and Phil.

An argument erupts causing Mel to leave the pub, while Phil is angry at Jay for going behind his back.

As Sharon heads off to find Mel to smooth things over, Mel's surprised but soon they too end up clashing.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
