EastEnders' Pam St Clement 'erupted into vicious tirade at co star for calling her Pat'

EastEnders actress Pam St Clement once furiously ranted at co star Scott Maslen for accidentally calling her by her character's name.

Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, revealed the horrendously awkward moment happened shortly after Scott, 49, joined the show and began playing Jack Branning.

Scott mistakenly called Pam "Pat", as her character since 1986 was Pat Butcher.

But Pam, 78, did not take kindly to the mishap, and reportedly went on such a nasty rant her co stars were shocked.

Jake discussed the tense encounter on his podcast, Pound for Pound, saying: She really took offence and gave him a hard time for it. She's a really lovely lady but she wasn't too happy.

"She looked at him and goes, 'Don't call me Pat!'

"Scott was s***ing himself. She talks really posh in real life."

It is not the first time Pam has been accused of being aggressive towards people who reference her iconic character.

In 2015, it was reported she told a rail worker "F**k off" when he joked to her: "Pat Butcher? I thought you were dead."

A source told The Sun: "He obviously meant absolutely nothing by it. I'd have thought that she got called Pat all the time to be honest, she was on the telly for years.

"She needs to calm down a bit, maybe she'd had a long day – but the poor guy who asked her looked pretty upset, I thought he might cry."

MirrorOnline has contacted a rep for Pam for comment.

Next week's Secret's From The Square will explore the relationship between Ben Mitchell and Callum Highway.

Actors Max Bowden and Tony Clay will chat to host Stacey Dooley about their much-loved onscreen relationship "Ballum".

They will reveal what the cast and crew knew about it in the lead up to the famous park kissing scene, Max revealed.

"Fans will learn a bit more about how the process of Ballum began, how it all started and what we knew about it all before the famous kissing scene in the park," he said.
