EastEnders outrage as Ian cruelly lies about dead Dennis' final moments to Peter

EastEnders saw fresh lies from Ian Beale on Monday, as he continued to hide what happened in the lead-up to Dennis Rickman's death.

Teenager Dennis, the son of Sharon Mitchell, was killed after he drowned during the tragic boat crash.

After learning Dennis was behind the online bullying of his son Bobby Beale, leading to him being injured in an Islamophobic attack, Ian wanted revenge.

Dennis' attitude and refusal to apologise saw Ian see red, with him slapping him across the face before locking him in a room on the lower deck.

When the boat crashed, Ian raced back down to save Dennis who was trapped - while at one point he considered leaving him behind.

Despite Ian changing his mind and freeing Dennis, the pair were taken out by a wave and Dennis drowned.

Several residents including Ian's son Peter Beale have grown suspicious over what happened, knowing Ian had a row with Denny on the boat.

There's also the fact he couldn't explain how he knew Dennis was stuck on the lower deck.

With him acting shifty ever since, and suspicions from Dotty Cotton who was on the boat, Peter confronted his dad over what happened.

But instead of confessing his guilt, he span another cruel lie after also lying to a grieving Sharon in the previous episode.

He cruelly claimed that Dennis had got drunk on the boat, and got himself trapped in the room.

Ian suggested he had left him down there unable to get through to him over Bobby, heading back upstairs.

While hiding the fact he had locked poor Dennis in the room before tragedy struck, he tearfully told Peter that Dennis locked himself in and that he was only there to help him.

He broke down, as he told his son about heading down and saving Dennis, before being taken out by the wave.

Viewers were sickened as a sobbing Ian said he did all he could and would trade his life for Dennis' if he could, knowing full well he was the reason for him being trapped on the boat in the first place.

Taking to Twitter , many fans hoped Ian's lies would be rumbled as he continued to cover up the true events.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
