EastEnders next week: Jean drowning horror, Aaron critically injured and smoke bomb attack

EastEnders viewers will see the frightening conclusion of Jean Slater’s manic episode on the soap next week, among other dramatic soap storylines the BBC has teased.

Jean Slater is in serious danger next week on the soap, when she heads to the Southend seaside alone.

Meanwhile, Harvey Monroe has a week of turmoil in store as he receives devastating news about his son Aaron Monroe.

Kat Slater will find herself in serious danger after a smoke bomb is thrown into her house with the children inside.

Jean, played by Gillian Wright, has been battling health woes on the soap for weeks, but is now set to reach a frightening new state of her mental health.

Jean’s daughter Stacey (Lacey Turner), who also has bipolar disorder, has noticed the signs that her mum isn’t well, but others put Jean’s behaviour down to high spirits and her whirlwind romance with fiancé Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman).

But her manic episode reaches a crisis point next week as she perseveres with her wedding planning, leaving Harvey furious when he realises how much she has spent.

Harvey puts the brakes on their big day and tells Jean to keep her newly purchased lavish wedding dress, but Stacey has had enough and decides she needs to intervene.

As Harvey starts to realise Jean might be unwell after all, he tells her they need to slow things down, stressing that Aaron is his focus at the moment after a brutal prison attack.

Furious, Jean reluctantly moves back in with the Slaters, but is still determined to get her happily ever after.

As the situation spirals, Stacey is alarmed to hear that Billy spotted Jean in her wedding dress, claiming she's getting married today.

Jean heads off to the coast on her own and once there, she has a marvellous time at first, enjoying the comments on her beautiful wedding dress from strangers as she visits a funfair.

But Stacey and Martin head off to Southend to find her - only to arrive and spot Jean running towards the sea in her fairytale white dress.

Stacey runs after her and carefully tries to encourage Jean away from the water - only to wade into the deep waters after her.

Can Stacey bring her mum of the sea to safety and get her the support she needs?

Aaron fighting for life after horror attack

Aaron (Charlie Wernham) is in prison on EastEnders for various far-right activities and acts of violence, after his dad Harvey turned him in to the police.

BBC spoilers have now revealed that Harvey is left shaken on the soap next week when he gets a disconcerting phone call.

He is told that son Aaron has been seriously injured and is now being treated in hospital.

Seeing the state he is in, Stacey supports Harvey at the hospital and the pair talk about Jean’s manic episode, with daughter Stacey trying to convince him Jean is unwell, begging him not to marry her.

In later scenes, Harvey is stunned by Jean’s nonchalant attitude when he tells her that Aaron's life is hanging in the balance.

Smoke bomb leaves Kat in danger

When a smoke bomb is thrown in Kat’s ( Jessie Wallace ) house on the soap next week, she immediately knows who's behind it and struggles to remain calm about the situation.

However, her fears escalate when she receives a strange package, but she and Stacey are relieved to discover that it's a false alarm in the cafe.

Kat goes on to admit to Stacey that she didn't want to live a life like this and it wasn't the reason she was with Phil.

Denise ends up overhearing their chat and suggests that they sort everything out with Sam so she can leave Jack and their family alone.

In later scenes on the soap, Ben manages to rile Kat up by saying that she's not up to being a Mitchell. When Sam arrives at her house to say she's moving in, Kat throws her out and declares that she is the head of the family now.

But at the end of the week, Kat is shocked after Callum escorts Lily home after she was seen shoplifting.

Kat quizzes her on what's going on and why she did what she did, but she is shocked by Lily's response...
