EastEnders newcomer leaves Sharon and Zack reeling with huge baby bombshell

A newcomer's arrival on EastEnders is about to shake up Albert Square.

Zack Hudson (James Farrar) and Martin Fowler (James Bye) were dealt a huge shock recently, when they returned home after a meal out with Sharon to find a baby on their doorstep.

Alyssa, aged one, was left with a note that simply read, "Alyssa is yours. Please take care of her. I can't do this anymore," leaving both men puzzled about who might be the father to the little girl.

Still reeling from the shock, the pair decide to have a paternity test and take it in turns looking after the little girl.

In upcoming scenes, Zack and Martin are both in the market, looking after baby Alyssa but as Zack takes the little girl off of Martin, he is unaware that her toy has dropped to the floor.

Throughout all of this, a girl has been watching him - but he doesn't realise.

She later appears again, just after Alyssa's toy is dropped off, with Sharon and Zack assuming it was left by her.

The duo catch up with her, which is when she reveals her name is Jada and she is Alyssa's mum. Jada also divulges who the baby's father is, with the revelation leaving Sharon and Zack completely shocked.

But just who does the baby belong to?

Zack had been hoping for Sharon's support after the baby was left on the doorstep, but she simply told him: "You sew enough wild oats, something's bound to get brewed."

It is not the first storyline that Zack has been involved in which has shocked fans.

When James joined the soap earlier this year, he was confirmed to be the secret brother of Sharon Watts and the son of villain Gavin Sullivan. The actor later teased his character will make mistakes because of his upbringing at the hands of his villainous dad.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press in March, he said: "There’s trauma certainly and seeing as nobody knows him it is hard for Zack to fit in, in that he finds it easy to impress with his charisma but makes so many mistakes because of his upbringing.

"I don't know masses about [his past] yet but there are certain scenes Tish and I have shot that show there are reasons behind the way he acts, when he acts in an ignorant way. But the majority of the time he’s a nice guy."

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
