EastEnders' Michael Greco slams Hollyoaks over AJ and Curtis Pritchard acting debut

EastEnders star Michael Greco slammed Hollyoaks for casting brothers AJ and Curtis Pritchard after one of their scenes went viral.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer and his brother Curtis' made their debut as the dance rivals of Trish Minniver (played by Denise Welch).

However, their acting was made fun of online after their scene went viral for the wrong reasons.

Michael, who played Beppe DiMarco on EastEnders between 1998 and 2002, caught wind of the video and took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

He tweeted: “This is everything and more that is wrong with an industry I love.

"These people that suddenly come up with these casting ideas need to resign immediately. Shocking.”

The star deleted his rant before tweeting again about how 'not' to act.

“I think people can watch this and learn so much from it. How ‘not’ to act. Shocking,” he said.

His tweet was in response to The Fall actor Gerard McCarthy's criticism of the brother's acting abilities.

Gerard retweeted the video and put in his two cents, writing: "The next time a producer/casting director says the words “but they have a big social media following”…. Just point them in the direction of this absolute car crash!"

The star, who played Kris Fisher on Hollyoaks, added under his tweet: "It’s a simple idea: stop giving actors’ jobs to models / reality tv contestants / pop stars from 1995 / Crufts winners / anybody else who is not an actor.

"THEY WILL BE SH***!"

Michael responded to the actor, joking that "if they don't win a BAFTA then I'm done".

AJ and Curtis' characters arrived on the show with the plan to get into Trish's inner circle in hopes of destroying her career.
