EastEnders' Maisie Smith seen visibly shaking during GMB chat on mental health battle

EastEnders star Maisie Smith admitted she was "shaking" as she made an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Monday.

The 20-year-old actress joined hosts Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis in the ITV studio to discuss her mental health and why she's encouraging people to talk to one another.

Maisie looked radiant in a pink top and had her red hair pulled back as she chatted to the duo about her recent TikTok videos.

In the emotional selfie video she shared with fans, Maisie wrote: "3/10 felt useless, 6/10 was really productive, -10000/10 had some bad news, 2/10 just felt sad all day for some reason. 3/10 did a good workout, 2/10 lost my personality, 1/10 felt pointless."

GMB viewers were quick to praise Maisie and took to Twitter to comment.

One person posted: "Kudos to @maisie_smith_ for her appearance on @GMB this morning, to raise awareness for #MentalHealth via her #LoveToTalk bench in Windsor & the #1MillionMinutes campaign. Mental Health Matters!! #GMB."

Another person tweeted: "@maisie_smith_ good on you Maisie for speaking out on @gmb today! You were amazing and you really couldn't tell how nervous you were! Red heart Xx #gmb."

And a this person added: "Very brave from Maisie Smith on #GMB here. So much depth & maturity for 20 years old. #MentalHealthMatters #itsgoodtotalk."

The star appeared opened up on the morning programme about how she had been feeling to support the show’s 1 Million Minutes campaign which encourages people to talk about mental health.

Maisie said: "It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, what you have - everyone is going through something and I just think the world would be a kinder place if everyone understood that.

"Growing up in the limelight as a teenager, you’re very judgemental of yourself, so when you do see comments of other people judging you, it can add to the strain of the things you’re already going through.

"I think people do think I’m confident because I just cover my nerves with a big smile, and that’s what I’ve been doing my whole life, really."

Martin said that he could tell Maisie was nervous to be on the show when she admitted she was shaking.

The actress said that she gets to worried about interviews that she rehearses what she's going to say.

She added: "My brain goes to mush when I am under pressure and a lot of the time I will completely freeze and no words will come out at all."

The EastEnders star is setting up a listening bench for anyone that wants to talk about how they're feeling.

Maisie has recently returned home from competing in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

She took part in the brutal programme alongside Ferne McCann, Calum Best and AJ Pritchard.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
