Eastenders love rat Adam Bateman to leave Walford as Stephen Rahman-Hughes is axed

Eastenders is set to kiss goodbye to cheating dentist Adam Bateman with the love rat finally leaving Albert Square.

Stephen Rahman-Hughes has played the love rat, who is dating Honey Mitchell on the show, for the past year but his contract wasn't renewed by BBC bosses.

According to the Daily Star Sunday, the character of Adam is set to be written out this autumn.

A source revealed: “Producers have decided it’s the end of the road for Adam.

"It was decided to write the character out. His turbulent relationship with Honey Mitchell has kept viewers hooked.

"But once his cheating is exposed, the storyline comes to a natural end, so bosses decided not to renew Stephen’s contract.

"Stephen has been a fantastic part of the show. The decision to axe his character is no reflection on his performance."

The autumn trailer for Eastenders shows Honey discovering Adam’s infidelity, suggesting the character’s explosive exit can be expected any day now.

The most recent storyline has seen the love rat embark on an affair with Habiba Ahmed behind his partner Honey’s back.

Although Honey, played by Emma Barton, was initially seen to be burying her head in the sand, upcoming episodes suggest she will finally confront Adam over his betrayal.

It is believed that Stephen has already filmed Adam’s final scenes.

Other showstopping scenes teased by BBC One show in the trailer include Lola being taken hostage, paedo Tony's son targeting Whitney, and Jay's tragic past returning to haunt him.
